Mary von Zimmermann is the County Saddlery agent for the Pacific Northwest. She understands that saddle fit is one of the most underestimated and misunderstood parts of horsemanship. Sometimes a dramatic change in soundness or behavior can be seen with a properly fit saddle. A well fitted saddle should be like slipping your foot into a comfortable shoe. Imagine running or walking for a day in a pair of the wrong size shoes. You would not only be miserable but you would dread putting the same pair of shoes back on. Why would it be any different for our horses?

Mary's lifelong experience with horses as an avid rider, trainer and competitor herself makes her a valuable asset to County Saddlery. County will continue to provide Mary with the tools, design and knowledge to fit horses and riders competing in all levels of Dressage, Eventing, Hunters and Jumpers. Mary recently attended the highly renowned Master Saddler's Association training program where she had the opportunity to learn under the top saddle fitters in the world. As one of the few in the Pacific Northwest to have completed that course, she has proven her ability to properly balance a riders seat, compensate for a horses asymmetry, and improve overall equine movement and performance. As a Master Saddlers Association Certified Saddle Fitter, it is her goal to demystify this part of horse management for the equine owner, giving every horse their best chance to perform successfully and without pain. With all the options available in panels and tree design thousands upon thousands of different saddles can be made.

Mary works closely with vets, farriers, chiropractors and body workers to provide a complete team for the well-being of your horse. She is currently available for saddle fittings, rebalances, flocking & County Saddlery sales in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
